Joel wins Scottish Athletics U17 Athlete of the Year

Joel McFarlane attended the FPSG Awards Dinner in Glasgow at the weekend and was recognised for all his hard work and great achievements throughout the season by winning the U17 Athlete of the Year. This is a well deserved award and rewards Joel for the training and work he puts in to athletics. A big well done from everyone at the Club.
The awards were attended by the likes of Callum Hawkins, Laura Muir (pictured with Joel), Eilish McColgan, Sammi Kinghorn and Chris O'Hare and recognises both athletes and officials who have excelled over this season. A full report can be found here - http://www.scottishathletics.org.uk/30531-2/
In 2017 Joel won both the Scottish and British indoor Heptathlon titles setting both Scottish and Brittish records. He also won both outdoor Decathlon titles, setting a Scottsih record and the 2nd best score of all time in the UK. Joel has also won individual Scottsih titles both indoors and outdoors at long jump and high jump, as well as the outdoor sprint hurdles tile for the 5th year in a row. He has also just retained his Under 18 British Schools Indoor Pentathlon title on the 10th of November.
