These included Iona Mcfarlane improving her own pole vault and Javelin records. Despite a 1.6m headwind Rachel Broadfoot bettered a 75m hurdles record set back in 1998 by a certain C. Webber and Joel Mcfarlane improved his own 80m hurdles record & also added M. Downie's Javelin record. Matthew Law also had a excellent discus competition throwing close to his pb and the medals.
Medals did come in the form of a Silver for U20 athlete Ellen Robertson in the women's triple jump - 11.28m , just 16cm off the top spot. Rachel Broadfoot's excellent run in the U15 girls75m hurdles - 11.96, was rewarded with a Bronze medal. While Joel Mcfarlane picked up a Gold medal with a javelin throw - 47.85m, which puts him 9th in the Scottish all time ranking list. His run in the 80m hurdles - 11.36, into a strong -2.2m wind was good enough for a 2nd Gold medal. His third Gold came in long jump - 6.50m, where he set a new Championship Record and the longest ever jump by a Scottish U15 athlete, but an above legal tail wind means his jump will not stand as a Scottish record.
